Five days: Kenya on a short break
For people with four or five days, often bolted onto a work trip. It stays honest by doing two areas rather than four.
- Length
- 5 days, 4 nights
- Indicative range
- US$1,900 – 4,500 pp
- Places
- Ol Pejeta · Masai Mara
- Turnaround
- Costed quote within 24 hours
The range is what this shape of trip typically costs per person sharing, land only, from simple camps at the bottom to owner-run camps and private guiding at the top. It excludes international flights and it is not a quote — your quote will be itemised and exact.

Is this your trip?
Who this itinerary suits
Who it does not suit
- A once-in-a-lifetime trip from the other side of the world — give that the extra week
- Anyone determined to see the migration; three nights in the Mara is the sensible minimum for that
- Travellers adding a safari to a work trip in Nairobi
- Anyone with limited leave who would rather do two places properly than five badly
- Repeat visitors topping up
Day by day
How the days actually run
Written the way we would plan it, including the travel days nobody puts in a brochure.
-
Day 1
Nairobi to Ol Pejeta
A three to four hour drive north on good tarmac, with Mount Kenya ahead of you for the second half. Afternoon game drive on arrival.
Driving rather than flying this leg saves money and, on a short trip, costs almost no time.
-
Day 2
Ol Pejeta — a full day
Black and white rhino, the chimpanzee sanctuary, lion tracking and a night drive after dinner — none of which a national park permits. For a short trip this density of activity is exactly what you want.
-
Days 3–4
Masai Mara — two nights
Fly Nanyuki to the Mara, avoiding a very long drive. Two nights is short for the Mara and we will say so, but with a private vehicle and early starts it works.
If your dates fall in migration season, consider dropping Ol Pejeta and giving all four nights to the Mara instead.
-
Day 5
Mara to Nairobi and home
A last morning drive, the 45-minute flight to Wilson, and a transfer across the city to your international departure.
Make it yours
Common variations
Nothing here is a package. These are the changes people most often ask for, and all of them are straightforward.
All four nights in the Mara
The right call in migration season, and simpler.
Amboseli instead of the Mara
Closer, cheaper, and drivable — but no migration and lower predator density.
